In 1983, community members in Valle Crucis came together to protect a 12-acre piece of land along the Watauga River from being turned into an RV campground. Their successful efforts led to the creation of Valle Crucis Community Park, envisioned as a permanent natural space for recreation and community gatherings. Over the years, the park has expanded to 28 acres and now offers year-round outdoor activities for locals and visitors alike.
The park’s mission is to provide a safe, serene space for recreation and community connection, conserve open space, and educate visitors on the importance of protecting natural resources for future generations.
Each year, the Board of Directors reviews and updates its strategic goals, establishing key priorities to guide the park’s development.
